The Mbolompo Homestay is village based accommodation (VBA), 4km from Zithulele Hospital and a scenic 1.5h walk to the world famous "Hole in the Wall".

The homestead belongs to the Siyephu family and is situated on a operational farm, over looking the Mncwasa River mouth. We are directly between Coffee Bay and Bulungula Backpackers, about a 4 hour hike to each. A percentage of the turnover goes to a community account, so that the village as a whole can benefit from visitors to the area. The community comity have used the funds to assist the feeding program at a local preschool and to purchase fishing licenses.

The accommodation is simple yet comfortable and offers visitors an opportunity to experience a traditional Xhosa home. It is not a B&B or a hotel and do not cater for people who just need a place to stay. But rather for people who are interested in the Xhosa culture, who want to learn, share and be a be involved.

We have established new "green" ablutions, using recycled wood, minimum cement, composting toilet, paraffin showers, living roof and as much found materials as possible. See our blog for more pics and stories.
